Aval (M27) a ranger at the Angle. We look to him as an Elder. People have been gathering in a hidden grove. May people are asking why we are here and some whisper that an important person will soon arrive.
Once festivities had started in the late evening, men attacked our place of refuge. Gwayndeer was hit hard across the chest and without hesitation removed the hand and life of his attacker. In a haste to render aid, I loosed an arrow from my brother's bow. The arrow found its mark through the eye of one of these attackers. Tom came from the shadows to land a arrow into back of another evil man. Soon the rest of these men were slain, by my brothers and sisters of the DĂșnedain.
I began to render first aid to Gwayndeer, utilizing the leach craft I learned during my visit to Rivendell. Some of these DĂșnedain appeared to be mesmerized or in awe of the work I was doing.
The murmurs and whispers moved to questioning the existence of a spy or a leak within the DĂșnedain. Who has shared the location of this grove, sharing information about the gathering, who has broken the trust. An examination of those present revealed two guests were unaccounted for. Bardin (M) went missing along the east road. Another man was missing, he was last seen along the Greenway.
That night, once most had fallen asleep or retired to their bed rolls, I turned my attention to my task at hand; a ceremony to honor his death and a mark of the end of mourning. I had promised I would do a great deed with his bow and then burn it in a meaningful way. I unstrung the bow, placed the string within my personals, and placed the bow upon the fires in the great hall. As I watched it burn, I remembered the great deeds of my brother and why I have taken the path I am travelling. Aval came and stood beside me, shared words for which I cannot recall, but honored my brother. He presented me with one of his short bows, a bow which will serve me better.
The next morning was greeted with a beautiful sun rise, the rains had stopped, and the ground dried. Sometime after breakfast, 4 elves, 1 man, and 1 woman entered the hall. The man discussed a prophecy, he names himself as Estil and explains that he is Aragorn son of Arathorn. He is carrying the broken sword of Narsil. Aragorn states that he is going to be undertaking a task, he needs the help of his people, but not all can come. He calls forth volunteers to track the missing men, to find out what happened, the first group to return will earn the honor of aiding him. Two groups stand forth each a company of three. Tom, Gwayndeer, and myself for one group.
It is at this time, we begin our travels...
